No vax no work for taxi and private-hire car drivers

Singapore, 13/1/2021: Taxi and private-hire car drivers will need to be fully vaccinated from 1 Feb 2022 onwards to be eligible to work.

Drivers are allowed to suspend their contracts until they are fully vaccinated, said senior Minister of State for Transport Amy Khor in a Facebook post on Thursday (Jan 13).

According to Dr Khor, more than 99 per cent of taxi and private-hire car drivers are fully-vaccinated against Covid-19. More than three in four had received a booster shot.

Currently, there are about 300 plus unvaccinated drivers.

On the 300 plus unvaccinated drivers, Dr Khor said on her Facebook post, “The NTUC, NTA, and NPVHA have expressed support for our proposed approach to encourage and support the 300 plus unvaccinated drivers to get their vaccination.”

“We have been working with our tripartite partners to reach out to this group of drivers and will continue to do so.”
