Tanjong Katong Road South Sinkhole in Singapore

Around 5 pm on Saturday, July 26, 2025, a sinkhole approximately 2–3 metres deep, stretching across two lanes, appeared at the junction of Tanjong Katong Road South and Mountbatten Road, adjacent to a PUB worksite near One Amber condominium.

A car plunged into the water-filled sinkhole. The workers rescued the conscious female driver, who was then taken to Raffles Hospital and reported to have shoulder pain but was walking and stable.

🏘️ Local Concerns

Residents reported hearing loud booms and experiencing drops in water pressure as early as early Saturday morning possibly linked to earlier pipe bursts near the site in the hours before the sinkhole appeared.

What Happens Next

Recovery works include systematically draining the sinkhole, draining water, removing the vehicle, then backfilling and repairing the road once stability is confirmed. The process is intended to be careful and safe, even if it means a longer timeline.

MPs Goh Pei Ming and Gho Sze Kee emphasized that safety and stability take precedence and urged public patience as agencies coordinate restoration efforts.
