Car lost control and crashed into BKE road barricade

28/11/2020, Singapore: A car was capture by dashcam footage losing control and crashing yesterday at BKE expressway.

In the dashcam footage, the driver of the dashcam car was driving on the left lane of the expressway, as it was inching slowly to switch to the middle lane, a loud screeching sound caused by the emergency braking of a car was heard.

The dashcam car quickly switched back to its lane before filtering, following that up a black car was seen swerving to the right and crashing onto the road barricade head-on and spinning to a halt in the middle of the expressway lane.

From the footage, the black car seems to be travelling in a very high speed and was caught off guard by the lane switching of the dashcam car, thus engaging in emergency brake and swerving towards the right.

According to dashcam car driver the middle lane was empty when he was changing lane – before the incident captured via the dashcam footage.

Dashcam driver saw the black car traveling at a very high speed (via rearview mirror) at lane 1 and hit a car behind (dashcam car), before skidding out of control as shown in the dashcam footage.

The speed limit at expressway in Singapore ranges from 70-90 km/h depending on which section of the expressway you are on.

All vehicles, except government cars that are on duty, must not exceed the gazetted speed limit for that road or that section of the road.

If your car exceeds the speed limit on a road, depending on the speed of your car the punishment may range from 4 – 18 demerit point, fines of $130 and more¹.

In cases that you exceed the speed limit on a road by 51 – 60 km/h, you will be given 18 demerit points and prosecuted in the court. 24 demerit points for car that exceed the speed limit by more than 60km/h and prosecuted in court¹.
